The Book of Ephesians Step 3 - Your New Identity in Christ (Learn what it means to live as a Christian)

Published on July 16, 2026 at 3:01 PM

John answers "Who is Jesus?" and Romans answers "How am I saved?", Ephesians answers:

"Now that I belong to Christ, who am I?"

After reading Romans...

Once you've discovered God's grace and the gift of salvation, Ephesians teaches what it means to live as a follower of Jesus Christ.

This short letter is rich with encouragement, reminding believers of their identity in Christ and calling them to walk in love, unity, wisdom, and spiritual strength.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."

Ephesians 2:8–9 (NIV)

🌿 What You'll Discover

  • Your identity in Christ.
  • God's incredible grace.
  • Salvation is a gift, not something we earn.
  • The unity of the Church—the Body of Christ.
  • Living a life worthy of your calling.
  • Walking in love, light, and wisdom.
  • Healthy relationships in the home.
  • The armor of God and spiritual warfare.

📚 A Simple Reading Plan

Take your time.

Read one chapter each day.

Ephesians has only 6 chapters, making it a wonderful one-week study that you may find yourself reading again and again.

As you read, ask yourself three questions:

  1. What does this chapter teach me about who I am in Christ?
  2. What does this chapter teach me about living as His disciple?
  3. What changes is God asking me to make today?

Keep a journal nearby and write down verses that encourage or challenge you. Ask the Lord to shape not only your understanding but also your heart.

🙏 Before You Read

Thank You for making me Your child through Jesus Christ. As I read Ephesians, help me understand who I am because of Your grace. Teach me to walk in humility, love, wisdom, and faithfulness. Strengthen me to stand firm in You each day.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

🌾 A Note from The Anonymous Disciple

John introduces you to Jesus.

Romans explains the Gospel.

Ephesians teaches you how to live as one who belongs to Him.

Read this letter slowly. Notice how often Paul reminds believers who they already are in Christ before telling them how they should live. The Christian life begins with God's grace and flows into grateful obedience.

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."

Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)
