📖 Philippians 3:8–19 | Luke 9:12–18

What does it mean to follow Christ wholeheartedly?

Today's Eastern Orthodox readings remind us that knowing Jesus is worth more than anything this world can offer. In Philippians, Paul urges believers to press toward the heavenly goal, while Luke's account of the feeding of the five thousand reveals Christ's compassion and His power to provide when human resources fall short.

Through our companion studies, we explore the surpassing worth of knowing Christ, the call to persevere in faith, and the promise of our heavenly citizenship.

We also remember the saints commemorated today, including Longinus the Centurion, and reflect on their examples of faithfulness and devotion.

☦️ Today's Orthodox Practices

Our study includes Friday's three fasting levels—Beginner, Standard, and Strict—along with the traditional Evening Prayer Rule. Together, fasting and prayer invite us to practice self-discipline, repentance, gratitude, and a deeper dependence on God.

❤️ The heart of today's study: Following Christ is not simply about what we leave behind, but about the One we are pursuing.

“I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 3:14 (NASB)
